Cultural Tourism: Clicket works with Museum of Edinburgh and Tourism Frontliners

Aug 10, 2012

At the end of July the Clicket Team held two tourism events in conjunction with the Museum of Edinburgh to help co-promote their newest attraction and to introduce them to Clicket.co.uk.

Tourism frontliners being briefed about Clicket and Foundation Edinburgh

Foundation Edinburgh – The Story of a City is a 17 minute film projected onto the floor of the Museum to give a birds-eye view of Edinburgh’s development from prehistory to the present day.

Key tourism frontliners, i.e. those who regularly interact and advise tourists, were invited to view the film and explore the newly revamped museum to givie them a refreshed perception of the attraction so that they would then be able to confidently make recommendations to tourists. The weekend after the first event took place there was a marked increase in the number of visitors to the Museum. This demonstrates the impact the tourism industry can have on arts and culture in the City.

To support the event, and with the aim of increasing awareness and visitor numbers to the Museum of Edinburgh, Grace our Clicket Web Editor wrote editorial about Foundation Edinburgh and created a photo-trail which takes you around the exhibition upstairs to increase engagement with the exhibition and create a more positive visitor experience.

The Audience Business want to help our Subscribers and the Tourism sector to take advantage of the opportunities tourism presents for the cultural sector and vice versa. Clicket.co.uk is a great resource for those living and visiting Edinburgh because you can:

  • buy all your tickets in one place
  • create bespoke itineraries
  • find detailed information about all the venues and attractions listed on the site, including travel and access information
  • be guided to events that suit your tastes or be encouraged to try previously unexplored artforms by the editorial, blogs and reviews sections.

Clicket makes the extensive cultural offer in Edinburgh easier to navigate, and those working in the tourism industry can direct people to Clicket.co.uk to help visitors plan their stay in the city. The Frontliner event at the Museum of Edinburgh was a great opportunity to get this message across to some key players and we’re following up directly with many of them to help them link to and get the most out of Clicket in the coming months.

TAB and Clicket will continue to build relationships with the tourism sector on behalf of our Subscribers by developing our Frontliner programme, working with ETAG and other relevant partners to raise awareness, creating trial projects with clusters of tourism organisations to test activity on Clicket and working up a wider strategy going forward.
